Understanding Anxiety

Anxiety Is Treatable — You Don't Have to Live Like This

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health conditions in the United States, affecting tens of millions of people. Yet most go untreated or undertreated, suffering through daily panic, worry, and avoidance when effective help is available.

We treat all forms of anxiety at Golden State Rehab — generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety, and anxiety that co-occurs with trauma or substance use. Our approach combines the best evidence-based therapies with individualized care to get you lasting results, not just temporary relief.

Treatment Methods

Our Anxiety Treatment Approach

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT addresses the thought patterns and avoidance behaviors that maintain anxiety. You'll learn to identify cognitive distortions, challenge anxious thinking, and respond differently to feared situations.

Exposure Therapy

Gradual, structured exposure to feared triggers — in imagination or real life — systematically reduces anxiety through habituation. It's the most effective intervention for phobias and panic disorder.

Breathwork & Somatic Skills

Anxiety lives in the body as much as the mind. Diaphragmatic breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and body scan techniques directly regulate the nervous system and interrupt the panic cycle.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) teaches you to observe anxious thoughts without being consumed by them — a powerful skill for breaking the rumination loops that sustain anxiety.

Medication Management

When appropriate, our psychiatrists can prescribe non-habit-forming medications to reduce anxiety symptoms while you build the skills needed for lasting, medication-free management.

DBT Skills Training

Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills — distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness — complement CBT for those whose anxiety is intertwined with emotional dysregulation.
