Meaningful clinical treatment designed around your life
An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is structured addiction and mental health treatment that fits around your life — a few focused sessions each week instead of full days, and you sleep in your own bed. At Golden State Rehab in Westwood, Los Angeles, IOP meets 3 to 5 days per week for 3-hour sessions, about 9 to 15 hours of treatment weekly, with morning and evening tracks offered in person or through secure telehealth anywhere in California. Each week includes group therapy, at least one private session with your primary therapist, and psychiatric support when your treatment plan calls for it. IOP sits one step below PHP (full weekdays) in intensity, and it's often where clients land after finishing PHP — or when weekly therapy alone isn't enough. Most major insurance plans are accepted, and a free, confidential assessment determines whether IOP is the right level of care for you.

Three-hour group sessions in the morning, 3–5 days a week. A good fit if you work evenings or want treatment finished early in the day.

At least one private session with your primary therapist, plus psychiatric check-ins, family sessions, and medication support as your treatment plan calls for.
Yes — for most clients, that's the whole point of IOP. The evening track meets after typical work hours, so treatment doesn't collide with your job. If the commute is the obstacle, our telehealth option lets you join the same sessions from home.
Your job also stays your business. We never contact your employer, and your records are protected by HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 — a federal confidentiality rule written specifically for substance use treatment. If you ever do want time away, federal FMLA and California's CFRA generally give eligible employees the right to job-protected leave for a serious health condition. That's general legal information, not legal advice — but it means getting help rarely has to put your job at risk.
It depends on your plan — which is why we check your benefits before anything else. We accept most major insurance providers, and under federal parity law and California's SB 855, health plans must cover medically necessary care like IOP.
This verification of benefits (VOB) is free, confidential, and doesn't commit you to anything.
IOP is ideal for clients who have established a baseline of stability — either through completing PHP or entering treatment with a stable support system and living environment.

PHP (partial hospitalization) is the more intensive level — full weekdays of programming, though you still sleep at home. IOP is a step down: 3-hour sessions 3 to 5 days a week, so work and school can continue. A free, confidential assessment tells you which level fits.
