After-Work Treatment

Evening IOP in Los Angeles

Real addiction and mental health treatment after work — 3-hour evening sessions, 3–5 nights a week, without leaving your job or explaining anything to anyone

IOP That Fits Around a Career

Treatment That Starts When Your Workday Ends

The most common reason working people delay getting help isn't denial — it's the calendar. A job you can't step away from, clients who expect you at 9 a.m., a team that would notice a six-week absence. Our evening IOP track exists for exactly that person: the professional who needs real, structured treatment and simply cannot do it during business hours.

The evening track is part of our full intensive outpatient program in Los Angeles — same clinicians, same clinical content, different clock. You attend 3-hour group sessions in the evening, after typical work hours, 3 to 5 days per week, either in person at our Westwood center or through secure telehealth from anywhere in California. Each week also includes at least one private session with your primary therapist, and psychiatric support when your treatment plan calls for it.

Nobody at your office needs to know. Your records are protected by HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 — a federal confidentiality law written specifically for addiction treatment — and we never contact your employer. You go to work, you come to group, you sleep in your own bed. That's the whole arrangement.

How Evenings at Golden State Rehab Work

A Schedule Built for Workdays

Evening sessions run 3 hours, after typical work hours, 3 to 5 nights a week — about 9 to 15 hours of clinical treatment weekly. You finish your workday, attend group, and you're home the same night. Attendance days are set with your therapist around your actual obligations.

Group Therapy

The core of each evening is group therapy led by licensed clinicians — the same evidence-based curriculum our day tracks use. Evening groups tend to fill with people in similar situations: careers to protect, families to show up for, and a firm intention to do both while getting well.

Individual Sessions

You meet privately with your primary therapist at least once a week. These one-on-one sessions go where group can't — the specific pressures of your job, your relationships, and the patterns that brought you here — and they're scheduled around your calendar, not ours.

Telehealth Option

Westside traffic at 5 p.m. shouldn't decide whether you get treatment. Evening IOP is available through secure telehealth anywhere in California — join group from home after work, whether that's Pasadena, San Diego, or a hotel room on a business trip.

Psychiatry & Medication Management

When your treatment plan calls for it, our psychiatric team provides evaluation and medication management alongside therapy — including treatment for the anxiety, depression, or insomnia that often travels with substance use.

A Clear Step-Down Path

IOP isn't forever. As you stabilize, you step down to our outpatient rehab program — fewer hours, continued support — and eventually to standard weekly therapy and alumni support. The structure loosens as your recovery strengthens.

Who Evening IOP Is For

Built for People Who Can't Put Life on Hold

The evening track was designed for people whose daytime obligations are non-negotiable — and whose need for treatment is just as real:

  • You work full-time and can't take weeks away — or don't want a leave of absence on the record
  • You're the caregiver: kids to pick up, a parent who depends on you, a household that runs on your schedule
  • You're in school or training during the day and need treatment that doesn't cost you the semester
  • Privacy matters to you — you'd rather your colleagues, clients, or industry never know
  • You've finished PHP or a residential program elsewhere and need structured evening support as you return to work
  • Weekly therapy alone hasn't been enough, but you don't need full-day care

If daytime works better for you, the same program runs a morning track — see the full IOP program page for both options.

Evening IOP: Common Questions

Evening sessions are 3 hours long and begin after typical work hours, running 3 to 5 nights a week depending on your treatment plan — about 9 to 15 hours of treatment weekly. Exact start times are confirmed at admission, and your attendance days are set with your therapist so the schedule works with your job, not against it.

Yes. Your records are protected by HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, a federal confidentiality law written specifically for addiction treatment. We never contact your employer, and nothing is shared with anyone without your written consent. If you ever do need protected time off, laws like FMLA and California's CFRA may apply to eligible employees — we can talk through your options confidentially, though your HR department or an employment attorney is the right source for specifics.

The evening track uses the same clinical programming as our day tracks — same group therapy curriculum, same weekly individual sessions, same access to psychiatry and medication management, delivered by the same clinical team. What changes is the clock, not the care. For many working clients, the evening track is also the schedule they can actually sustain — and treatment you can attend consistently beats treatment you keep missing.

Insurers cover IOP as a level of care, so evening and morning tracks are treated the same — most major plans may cover it when it's medically necessary, and we work with most major PPO plans. What you'd actually pay depends on your deductible, network rules, and plan type; our overview of insurance coverage for rehab explains how it works. Verifying your benefits is free, confidential, and doesn't notify anyone.

It varies by person — commonly a couple of months, though some clients need less and some benefit from more. Length is driven by your clinical progress, not a preset calendar. As you stabilize, you step down to fewer weekly hours in our outpatient program, so treatment tapers rather than ending abruptly.
