For myself it’s been less then a month that I have been
here. To share my experience here. It’s been one of
the best programs by far. All the facilitators have a lot
of experience in recovery and walk the talk. They are
fun and are attentive to our needs and want to see us
shine and have a beautiful out look on recovery.
There’s never a dull moment as far as participation
and perception. We appreciate this program and
hands down. We recommend this place 💯

This place is truly amazing! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed, supported, and
treated with genuine care and respect. The staff is incredible and goes above and
beyond to make sure everyone feels heard, understood, and encouraged. You can tell
they are passionate about the work they do and truly want to see people succeed.

The groups are also excellent. They are informative, engaging, and provide helpful tools
that can be applied to everyday life. The facilitators create a comfortable and supportive
environment where people can be honest, participate, and learn without feeling judged.
I have gained so much insight, encouragement, and motivation from the groups and the
    staff.

I am extremely grateful for the support I received here. This program has made a
positive difference in my life, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a
safe, caring, and supportive place to grow, heal, and move forward. Thank you to the
entire staff for everything you do!

Golden State Rehab gave me a second chance at life and helped me get my sobriety back.
From the moment I got there, the place felt safe, calm, and welcoming. The location is
amazing and it honestly felt like a home away from home.
The staff really care about your recovery. Juanita and Scott helped me through some of the
hardest parts and made sure I never felt like I was doing it alone. Big thank you to them and
the whole Golden State Rehab team for helping me heal and start feeling like myself again.
They also got me a cake for my birthday !! It isn’t just a place for treatment it feels like family

How We Treat Addiction in Los Angeles

A lot of people in LA hold it together for years. They drink after work or use just to get through the week, and nobody at the office has a clue. Most of our clients keep working while they get help. Golden State Rehab is an outpatient addiction treatment center in West Los Angeles, on Westwood Blvd just south of UCLA. We treat drug and alcohol addiction, plus the anxiety or depression that usualy comes with it (doctors call that a dual diagnosis).

PHP and IOP

Day treatment, or evenings after work.

Partial hospitalization (PHP) runs weekdays, about 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Intensive outpatient (IOP) is lighter: 3-hour groups, 3 to 5 days a week, mornings or in our evening IOP after work. Both are outpatient drug rehab, so you sleep at home every night. On weeks the 405 is a parking lot, you can join group by video through our virtual IOP, from anywhere in California.

Psychiatry and MAT

A psychiatrist on your team from week one.

Our medical director, Dr. Eric Chaghouri, is a board-certified psychiatrist who went to med school at USC. If you’re coming off fentanyl or other opioids, we start buprenorphine (Suboxone) slowly, which lowers the chance of sudden withdrawal. For alcohol, naltrexone can cut cravings. This is called MAT, or medication-assisted treatment. It’s part of our medication management. If you’re comparing rehabs, ask who writes the prescriptions. Not every program has a psychiatrist on staff.

Individual and Group Therapy

Therapy for why you drink or use.

In 2025, meth passed fentanyl as the drug involved in the most LA County overdose deaths, per county Public Health. There’s no FDA-approved medicine for meth yet, so therapy is the main treatment. You get individual therapy with your own therapist at least once a week, and your sessions can use CBT, DBT or EMDR, depending on what you need. If trauma is part of your story, your therapist uses a trauma-informed approach. Groups focus on coping skills for cravings and hard feelings. Holistic therapies like yoga and breathwork help your body calm down too.

Westwood, West LA

Right on Westwood Blvd, south of UCLA.

We’re at 1964 Westwood Blvd, Suite 425. From Santa Monica it’s about 15 minutes, heading east on Olympic or the 10. Mar Vista and Brentwood are closer, around 10. From Sawtelle you can walk it. After treatment, people in our alumni program still get together for hikes and sober dinners.

Starting Rehab in LA This Week

A lot of people plan to get help after the holidays, or once a big deadline at work passes. Then January comes and the plan slips again. You can start addiction treatment this week instead, and most of the setup happens in one phone call.

  1. Reach us any hour, holidays too

Call or text (424) 208-3120. Someone from our admissions team picks up day or night, in English or Spanish. We also offer Spanish-speaking treatment. Tell them what’s going on in your own words. You don’t need the medical terms.

  2. Free insurance check, usually within the hour

We call your insurance and tell you what you’d pay before you commit. We work with most major PPO plans (here’s how insurance coverage for rehab works). Quick tip: most plans reset your deductable on January 1. If you’ve already paid toward it this year, starting sooner can cost you less.

  3. A one-hour assessment, by phone or in Westwood

A clinician asks what you’re using and what your weeks look like, then recommends PHP or IOP. If you drink heavily every day or take benzos, don’t stop all at once on your own. That withdrawal can be dangerous. We don’t do detox here, but we set it up with a detox provider we trust and hold your spot.

  4. Start treatment, often the same week

Most people start within days of their first call, thanks to same-week intake and no waiting list. In week one you meet your therapist and your group. Nothing gets shared with your job or your family without your written OK.

FAQ

Addiction Treatment FAQs

It depends on your level of care and what your plan covers. Most people here use insurance, and we check your benefits for free before you commit to anything. The levels price differently: PHP is the most intensive and costs the most per week, IOP is less because you're here fewer hours, and standard outpatient less again. If you want the numbers first, ask on the call and we'll break down what each level runs in Los Angeles, both with coverage and without it.

Usually yes, at least in part. California's SB 855 and the federal parity law require most plans to cover addiction and mental health care the way they cover other medical conditions. We work with most major PPO plans. What your plan actually pays depends on your level of care, whether you've met your deductible, and how your specific policy is written, and a denial isn't the end of it. Plans have an appeals process, and parity law gives you real grounds to push back. Or verify your insurance and we'll make the calls for you.

Most of our clients do. IOP meets a few hours a day, several days a week, with morning and evening options, plus telehealth for the weeks when getting to Westwood isn't realistic. If you do need time away from work, FMLA can protect your job for up to 12 weeks at employers it covers, and the ADA generally protects people who are in treatment from being fired for it. In most cases your employer only needs to know you're under a provider's care, not the details of why.

PHP typically runs 4–6 weeks and IOP 8–12 weeks, though many people step down through levels of care rather than stopping after one. Your timeline gets set with your clinical team, not by a calendar. The research is consistent on one point: outcomes get better the longer someone stays engaged in treatment, and stepping down gradually, from PHP to IOP to outpatient to alumni support, holds up better than stopping the week you first feel steady.

Day one is an intake conversation, not an interrogation. Groups start early in the week, your first individual session usually lands midweek, and you meet with psychiatry by the end of it. By the end of that first week you'll have a treatment plan you helped write, a therapist you've actually sat with, and a schedule for the weeks ahead, so nothing about the day-to-day comes as a surprise.

You might, if any of these sound familiar: you need more to get the same effect, you've tried to cut back and couldn't, you feel sick or on edge when you stop, or your day gets planned around drinking or using. Plenty of people with these signs still hold down a job and a family, and that's usually what keeps them from calling for years. You don't have to figure it out alone. A free, confidential assessment tells you if you need treatment and which level fits, PHP or IOP, with no obligation.

Ask us, then check for yourself. We're certified by the California Department of Health Care Services (Cert. #191643AP), and that certification is verifiable in the state's public database. Ask any program you're considering for its license number, who owns it, who your therapist will be and what their credentials are, and what happens if you need a higher level of care than they offer. And be skeptical of any success rate you're quoted, because nobody measures it the same way, so the number is marketing, not data.
